Cutting Edge Robotics in Laryngology and Otology: TORS and Beyond
Cutting Edge Robotics in Laryngology and Otology: TORS and Beyond is a course designed to give Otolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons, a broad based educational experience in the developing field of robotic surgery. We will discuss not only transoral robotic techniques for treating benign and malignant conditions of the oropharynx and larynx, but we will also expose participants to upcoming robotic devices that can be used in head and neck surgeries. Two different robotic surgical systems (DaVinci and MedRobotics) will be featured in didactic lectures and case-based, panel discussions. Nationally renowned faculty will emphasize fundamental surgical anatomy, patient selection, perioperative considerations and robotic dissection techniques. Additionally, there will be a hands-on session with the MedRobotics, DaVinci systems, and Lumenis lasers.
We hope you will join us for this exciting program that can ultimately result in better outcomes and quality of life for many of your patients. Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify which patients are good candidates for Robotic Surgery.
- Distinguish the differences between TORS and open surgical approaches and non-surgical treatment strategies.
- Identify key features of the anatomy relevant to TORS.
- Relate potential strengths and limitations of current FDA-approved devices for TORS.
