2018 Call for Simulations

2018 Simulation Showcase

The Simulation Education Committee will host its annual Simulation Showcase on Monday evening, October 8, held during the 2018 AAO-HNSF Annual Meeting & OTO Experience in Atlanta.

We invite you to submit an abstract for consideration, to demonstrate your current simulator and/or simulation activities during this year’s event. Successful abstracts submissions will involve the (1) development, validation or study of a simulator, (2) simulation, or (3) simulation-based curriculum. Table-top simulator demonstrations are strongly encouraged and preferred. However, brief PowerPoint presentations are acceptable for simulators which cannot be easily transported.

Authors should be prepared to answer the following when using the abstract submission site link provided below:

  • Demonstration/Presentation Title
  • Abstract Authors and On-site Demonstration Presenters
  • Simulator/Simulation Activity Description (maximum 500 words)
  • Simulator/Simulation Activity Project Goals and Expected Outcomes
  • Demonstration Requirements

2018 SIM Tank

Selected from accepted simulation abstracts that will be demonstrated during the Simulation Showcase, authors of the top three abstracts will also give 10-minute PowerPoint presentations of their simulation projects during “SIM Tank" to a panel of expert judges and a live audience. Votes from the judges will help to determine which developers will finish in first place, second place, and third place, respectively.

Monetary prizes will be disbursed to SIM Tank finalists: $1,000.00 for first-place; $500.00 for second-place; and $250.00 for third-place, respectively. In addition to monetary prizes, finalists will be interviewed for OTO TV; recognized during the Simulation Showcase, which will be held directly after SIM Tank; and an article will be published in the Annual Meeting Daily one day after the event.

Please do not submit the same presentation abstract more than once – you can edit and review a submission. If you experience issues with editing a submitted abstract, please email academyu@entnet.org prior to the April 5 submission deadline.

The submission site will be open until Thursday, April 5, 2018, 11:59 pm ET.
